Working with an existing infrastructure

Before working with Eighth Floor Creative, Taoglas had set up a new website and product management system. This system allowed Taoglas to display all their products online, but they were not happy with the final result of the website itself. All the features that were agreed to did work as they should. Taoglas used Eighth Floor Creative to create a new front end for the website while keeping all the existing site infrastructure and product management system.

Finding new goals

The goal of the Taoglas website is to allow visitors to find their products as quick as possible. Keeping those products in mind, we redesigned the home page to feature multiple products. Additionally, the navigation was cleaned up to add ease of use and quicker access to nearly all the site's content. We also implemented a search feature to allow immediate direct access to any product in their catalog.

Execution of best practices

Search engine optimization best practices were incorporated into the design the new website. By combining those practices with semantic and valid XHTML, the visits to the new website increased dramatically. Within 3 weeks of launching the new site launch, inquiries were received for the first time in months.

The new website extracts more information out of the same product management system, allowing Taoglas to showcase their products with greater flexibility and range.
